Max lift stock springs can handle?
Re: Max lift stock springs can handle?
hate to say it but if you put 1.6 rockers in you probably need new springs right now. stock springs are pretty much maxed out with stock lift and you just threw about another .030 on top of it. if you dont have much money to spend put some lt4 springs on it for around 30 dollars, if you have the cash and you want something a little better but still cheap get some of combo's ex612 springs. also if you dont have one get an lt4 knock module so your motor doesnt get false knock and pull your timing back which would negate any gains from the rocker might even make less power with false knock. but i would highly recommend against using your stock springs with 1.6 rockers.

max lift is .525"
i beleive you can get away with stock springs on 1.6rr but you are VERY VERY close to the max lift...like .005" off....
ls6 springs work on the lt1 i think...those are .570" lift and are fairly inexpensive

Get the EX612s from combination motorsports http://www.cmotorsports.com/93-97-fb...ine-valvetrain
Good for .600 lift and fit right in place of the stockers. Plenty of spring for a cam later on
only a little over a 100bucks for springs, retainers and locks then you can use your stock seats.
