Help!

Ok remember the thread I had about my car wanting to stall once it went into closed loop, then it was fine? Well, now it's doing it and won't stop. It almost caused me to crash! I was at a light....car was running ok, started getting rough, started getting REAL rough like it was going to stall, then shot forward. It's been constantly doing this.....it will run smooth, get rough, get real rough like it's about to stall (feels like you're going uphill in overdrive with the converter locked running on 5 cylinders), then the RPM's jump and the car jumps forward. I re-tightened all my clamps but I think I still have a leak. I had codes P0133 and P0153 come up yesterday, and my SES came on again today and started to blink (what does that mean if it starts blinking?)

Anyways, I'm really pissed because my car isn't all that driveable.

Someone please help me

-Matt

Blinking SES generally indicates a misfire.

Ok I checked for arcing and saw nothing....I'll pull a plug when it cools down. If the O2s are setting a code does the PCM go into some sort of mode where it ignores the O2s? Because after running rough for 15 minutes or so today, it started to run real smooth.

If I were you I'd take it to a dealer who knows LT1's. Get it diagnosed and let them tell you the problem. I had a similar problem to yours, and I couldnt track it down, especially since I had no codes. The dealership raped me on the cost but at least I knew what it was. I changed my opti last night and away went the problems. I was also running on 7 cylinders or less and it would randomly drop others. The opti is very weird and it changed its mood everyday, but was always worse in closed loop. Good Luck my friend, I feel your pain.

Oh and my plugs...some where completely black and others were melted and pitted. Your's dont look that bad.

Get it from Van Devere. They have lower prices. Plus much better customer service.

When your 02 sensors are trashed, the car runs very rough, shakes, and will want to stall at idle. This happens until your pcm switches from closed loop to open loop. When that happens, your ses light comes on and the car runs smoother because the pcm is ignoring the O2 sensors and using preset values to deliver fuel. You might hear a sound, like a fan running when this happens.

The car feels very rough if you have a manual, or if your torque converter locks up because then there is no fluid medium to absorb the chaotic running of the motor.

sometimes the car will go abck to closed loop and it runs very rough again unti lit goes back to open loop.

Im sure other problems can cause similar things to happen. You should get a O2 sensor code (forty soemthing) that says left or right back lean or rich if the 02 sensor is bad enough to do that.

I thought the blinking meant it was telling you what code it was throwing. But maybe I'm in a dream.

I just ran my car with the O2 sensors unplugged, and WOW it ran SO smooth! What do you guys think? Should I replace the 02 sensors or the O2 extensions? Has anyone had a bad experience with thunder racing extensions?

I say try it. Just about anything is better than jumping right to an opti install.
