Need Volkswagon mechanic

Can't believe you have to drop the motor to change the alternator in a 76 super beetle. Anyone up for the job? Will pay a reasonable rate.

I don't have to imagine it, I got it straight from the Volkswagon dealer. It was my moms car, she gave it to me, I don't want it. For sale sign is coming forthwith. Need to fix this problem first, any Volkswagon experts out there that can handle this job?

It's not as bad as it sounds. There are like 8 bolts, some linkage and some wires to un-do and the motor drops right out. It's probably a 4 hour job start-to-finish for a decent mechanic. Still a pain just for an alternator though.

A friend of mine had one of those. We pulled the motor in less than an hour with 3 of us. To pull a motor out with human power was a cool experience.
