who has experience with the cc306 and comp 987's?
I currently have a 224/232 grind cam in my '94 and it runs great and gets good mileage, but power drops too damn quick over 4700 RPM most likely from my $hitty a$$ LT4 springs, so I'm swapping them out. I also need a chain since it's stock and will be replacing the water pump as preventative maintenance so I was considering upgrading to the cc306 (which I happen to have in a box in the garage from another project). How satisfied are you guys running comp 987's with the cc306? How is your mileage? What pushrods are you using? I also want to upgrade timing chains but have a problem..my 306 has had the dowel pin pushed in for a gen 1 motor it was in, and my car is a '94 which currently had the opti replaced...want to avoid replacing the opti and cover again if possible.
I plan on:
pulling the heads, resurface and pocket port, SS valves and valvejob, impala head gaskets
upgrade from 224/232/112 (.502/.510 lift) cam to cc306
upgrade from blueprinted stockers to 30# SVO
upgrade to 54mm TB (can't quite justify 58mm)
add RR's (none installed now) with 7/16" studs
upgrade from stock chain to LT4 ED or equiv.
car already has mods in sig, just looking for 400ish HP. Still is my driver car though, so I can't go too nuts...and since my car is currently getting 28mpg highway I dont want to loose too much mileage. Suggestions welcome
