Whats the deal with duel cutouts?

I am just curiouse what is the purpose of people having the two cutouts? Is there a certain gain with duels? Or is for a car with a certain amount of HPS. I am just asking because I am looking to buy a cutout for my car and I really didn't know what to do. I am looking at an electric cutout right now. I just didn't know if I should go single or duel? Thanks guys for the help.

Depends on where they're mounted on the exhaust. Some people like them before the cat, some like it after. If you don't mind it being after the cat, all you need is 1. This is what most people do. If you want them mounted before the cat you have to opt for 2. Since the only available pipe room is on the Y-pipe you need one for each side or you'll have one side of the engine exhaust exiting a cutout and the other side exiting through the exhaust. Not sure if it would cause a problem with the engine, but it still wouldn't be a good idea to do. Just go for the 1 on the I pipe after the cat and you'll love it.

Dauls are pretty much a track use only thing. I have them coming right off my header. When they are open, they are so freaking loud that someone racing next to me can not hear themselves think. I have to were ear plugs when the're open. I wouldnt make it 1 mile on the street before i got pulled over. I got pics of my y-pipe below. Your better off running a single cutout just before the axle.
