gears help , someone answer quick

Im about to buy gear from a fellow member they are motive 3:73 gear he took them out of his 95z i have a 94 z will these gears work for me ?

Yes, they will work just fine as long as you have a series 3 carrier.

aka, if you have 2.73 gears right now, it's not going to work. if you have 3.23 or 3.42 gears it'll work just fine.

That's only half correct. There's always the possibility that the gears are thicker for the series 2 carrier.

What you need to do is make sure you both have the same carrier. In other words, if both your cars came with 2.73 gears (series 2 carrier), you're ok. If both your cars came with either 3.23 or 3.42 gears (series 3 carrier), then you're ok. You cant swap gears between different series carriers.

It is possible to put series 3 gears on a series 2 carrier if you buy a ring gear spacer, but most people just get the proper gears for their carrier.

Motive doesn't make 'thick' gears, the last time I looked anyway.

that is what happened to me i bought my 373 gears,took out my stock 342 gears,wrong carrier had the shop put old gears back on.returned 373 for the proper carrier 2 0r 3 re install gears 2 weeks later cost me twice as much for install. but you live and learn
