HAHA Hell yea, that's my kitchen too . It was a little to cold in the garage so what the hell, set up shop right in the kitchen

With 150K miles and ten sec passes, 1.4 60's figured I better do some preventative maintence since the tranny has been so good to me and lasted this long . Decided to do a new input shaft, replacing all the bearings, syncros, and new steel 3-4 shift fork. That should hold me off for awhile longer

Right on!

Intimidating isn't the word for it though. More like I wouldn't ever toucht that with a ten foot pole, much less my own hands!!

weaksauce ...I just rebuilt an automatic in my basement

it's amazing (and lotsa fun) to hold the parts in your hands and just kinda play with em and see how they all work together...takes alotta the mystery out of it. And it's a great feeling when you put it all back together and it actually works

Good luck and cool pics

It was pretty straightforward although I got frustrated with the snap rings and was using 2 screwdrivers when I slipped and busted my knuckle. I opted out of stitches and kept my finger in a splint for 2 weeks. It still hurts sometimes to bend it.
Lesson learned-use the right tool.

It was cool to see it for myself and to notice the differences between it and a t5.

Did anybody else have trouble getting the 2 star bolts out of the shift rail? I broke 2 Snap On bits trying to get them out. All I had to do though was replace the 3-4 shift fork. Mine was in 2 pieces and some dust

Wow.... I just love that it's in the kitchen on the counter. I can see people walking through in the middle of the night to get a drink or make a sandwitch... turn on the light... and there's a tranny taken apart...

Now if you can get away with that... have the engine on a stand where the kitchen table went, see how that goes over
