Straight cut gears will be stronger, this is why every pure racing gearbox uses them. The downside is increased wear and noise.

I love it! Tearing apart a tranny on the granite kitchen
countertop. That is my kind of auto repair.

HAHA are you serious? Piece of cake dude. Remove the y-pipe and plenty of room.

Cool pics! I have a buddy who rebuilds trannys and that T56 doesn't look as scary as the 4L60E he rebuilt. Those autos have some serious crap in them!!!

Am I the only one that thinks it would be wicked if someone (InjectedSS would be prefect since his is already apart ) would make a guide on their rebuild? List of tools used, list of parts replaced, tips and of course lots of pics. I've never really seen any guides on T56 repair (other than the repair manual).

Edelbrock doesn't make longtubes for LT1's...

This is what longtubes will look like under your car, these are Hooker's (man they sure looked pretty two years ago )

Anywho, headers or not, doesn't really make a difference in taking out your tranny.. if the ypipe is in the way, it should be no biggie removing it.
