Something's knocking in my engine
I have something knocking in my engine. It's not a loud sound, but my guess is a bad rod bearing. It only does it once warmed up, and only at idle. Even then, it's occasional. I get a series of five or six clunks, then nothing, then a few more knocks.
Could this be anything else? If it is the bearings, I guess it's time for a forged 383...

Could also lead from a collapsed lifter, bent pushrod, or maybe a bad rocker... I tossed rod bearings on #8 myself, and tossed them nicely. Got a nice loud clacking no matter what I did. Blip the throttle - is it linear with the rpm, or is it random? (When I blipped the throttle it didnt make any noise, but as the engine slowed down it made a horrid 'random' racket)
I hate that feeling, knowing you need to pull the motor...

I'd hate it if you did it to me, but, unless you have the money for 383 I'd sell it too.
