preperation for headers
preperation for headers
I'm gonna order some jet hot sterling silver coated headers that are part of the group purchase on this board....just acouple questions.....
1. Do I need to order the 02 extensions, or can I solder in a splice with the same size wire and not give the computer a false impedance reading?
2. Have other people used the supplied bolts and had problems with them. I've done some searching, and a lot of people that buy headers buy better bolts. Is it worth the money?
3. Emissions are not an issue, and soon I will be going with an aggressive cam and heads, I wanna run dual straight pipes back and possibly through some bullet mufflers w/turndown before the axle. Has anyone done this or have pictures/cost estimates?
Thanks in advance for any info/opinions anyone can give.

I didn't use the supplied bolts, rather ARPs from Summit. I also used Fel-Pro 1406 header gaskets (they also supply gaskets when you purchase them).
For the extentsions, I bought 2 12" but you can make you own and won't have any problems.
Also you may want to look into replacing your motor mounts. Its known that the Jet-Hots have bad clearence on the driver's side with old mount. I didn't replace mine, but I also get a lot of floorboard banging from the y-pipe.
Have fun putting them in.

You'll need at least one O2 extention for the passenger side, on the drive side you should be ok, as for the bolts, the ones that came with them are ok, I just with they were stainless, also definatly get some better gaskets.
