swaybar install q's

I just got a set of 35mm/25mm sways from suspension techniques. They are beefy to say the least! How hard are they to install, they don't look too crazy but I know it's always harder than it looks. Any tips?

The stock endlink nuts can be pretty hard to remove. Air tools make it a lot easier. If you don't have air, soak them with PB Blaster or WD40 ahead of time. Other than that it's pretty straightforward. I found the front bar easeier to change than the rear.
It's a good idea to take a few minutes to clean the chassis where the endlink bushings rest because they will be be full of grit. A few rags and some WD40 will clean them up.
The slits on the swaybar bushings should face the front on the front bar and the rear on the rear bar.
Don't use petroleum based grease on poly bushings, use silicone based grease.

Just curious. Where did you order them from? I ordered my 35mm front bar from Strano on Oct 9th and still don't have it. The snow is starting to fly soon and I want to get it and try it out before I have to put the car away for the winter.

Both installs are easy. Rusted bolts could be the biggest problem.

i have the bars you just got and i love them. I reccomend having a friend help you with the install because the bars are not exactly light and can be hard to handle by yourself when your trying to bolt them up. Otherwise it should take you about 45 min to an hour to finish the job completely. If you have any questions let me know.

I ordered them from lmperformance.com, took about 2 weeks total to arrive. I can't wait to get these suckers on.

They are a little harder than you'd think due to some kind of metal shroud on the front driver side that has to be removed. I don't remember what it was exactly. It just made the job more time consuming. I expected to zip off four bolts with the air tools, put the bar in place and zip four bolts back on. In reality it took about an hour tops all by myself. I only changed the front.

BTW - If you start to notice more of a tendancy for the back end to break loose, it's probably the rear bar. It's good for drag racing but it might try to lift the inside rear wheel in hard cornering causing a loss of traction under power.

The front and rear kits are available right now. But the fronts alone are what we are waiting on. They are boxed differently, and we sell many more front only bars than front and rear kits. If you'd like a kit, that can ship ASAP.

I hate the fact ST ran out of front bars too. It's a popular piece, and like everyone else am just waiting for them to get done. Everytime I call, it's always a "they're shipping tomorrow" kind of thing. I find it frustrating as well as you guys, and I'm sorry. But They are the only ones who make the bar I know works.....

Thanks for the update. I wish I wanted a kit. Oh well. I think it's going to be another week yet before they ship. So in total, it will be 6 weeks. I know it's not your fault. I also get tired of hearing this and that about why they are not shipping. I do wish I knew ahead of time that the bars would be a while.

You are a great guy to order from because you help so much with all the questions we have. I ordered my Bilsteins from you too, and those came fairly quickly. I think I was lucky because those were on backorder before that. I just happened to order when a big container of them came in.

Looking forward to my bar. I will probably have my car in storage now though before they arrive.

Thanks.

so are you guys saying that it handles better without installing the rear sways, and the rear 25mm is for drag racing? Please elaborate.

You'll probably need four new end links. The bolts are probably seized and the nylon is deformed. New ones are about $5-10. sLP has 'em for the 1LE for $6 each.

BTW, their very costly 35mm hollow ASB is here:

Finished! Well with the front anyways. It's kinda wet over here now so I couldn't fully test out how much the bar helps but It seems to grip really really well. It took me about 3 hours total, since my car is lowered it was really awkward getting to all of the nuts and bolts but once I did it was ok.

Could you check that Bud. Haynes says that the slits for the bushings are toward the front for both the Front and Rear ASB.
