What could cause a window motor to only bring the window up but not down?

"I used my meter on both sides of the plug that attaches to the motor and both show 11mv when the up and down are pushed?

I plugged the motor back in, used a test light and again, Power with Up and Down, yet the motor only turns in the up position? The regulator is not in a bind either.

And yes, I returned the first motor (thinking it was bad) and the second does the same thing?"

is the motor turning both ways and the window just not moving, or is the motor not moving?

If the motor is moving both ways, my friends caprice does the same thing and the window track is messed up.

How about window channels or guides binding. Check for any of those things being loose, too.

the window motor itself only turns in one direction. tested 2 of them so its not the window motor itself..
Yes the motor has been held in hand and it only turns in 1 direction

I have a prob similar to yours. On my passenger side, the window goes down but not up using the switch on that door, but on the drivers side door the switch will both lower and raise the window. Since I drive it, I dont worry about the passenger side switch being HALF broke.

When you change switch direction, it should swap polarity on the wires to the motor. That is what reverses the direction.

shoebox is right.. reversing the polarity on a motor reverses the direction.. I dont know about how the windows work, but one way to switch polarity is by using a relay. Possibly the relay went bad and wont switch the polarity? just a thought

Are the drivers side and passenger side window switches on the same circuit? The drivers side switch wont let the motor turn down either..
So there is 1 relay on each of the switchs?
How would you know which switch is bad?
The drivers side comes up and down just fine...
Im guessing its the switch on the passenger side. The relay is part of the switch assmebly right..

Thats the only thing it came be...
Motors fine, voltage is fine up until it connects to the motor....
So its the relay on the switch... can u pick one up seperate?
Part #?

Thanks a bunch guys
