Will mail order tune give me HP? (PCM4Less, MadZ28)

I have a pretty much stock LT1, I dont have much to spend so I wanted to know if something like Madz28 or PCM4Less mail order tune would give me any HP gains?

How much of a HP gain should a expect on his "Power Progamming" thats the only thing I will be getting since im pretty much stock.

Question. His order sheets asks "Do you want firmer shifts?" Will that make the transmission go out quicker? Or will it help the transmission?

Thanks Dmx, you've been helpful ... But I still wonder if shifting harder and faster is good or bad for the transmission...

Cause i know i DO NOT have the money when my tranny goes *knock on wood*

how many miles do u have on ur car i had a 95 a4 vert be4 my car now well i have a 94 a4 vert also but i sold that one with out problems but the 95 lasted till 145000 miles till the tranny went out but i did blow some trans mounts like 3-4 times but then i have gone throught 3 trannys after the first one under a warrenty thank god get a m6 cause these tannys hold up good as to the a4 they don't but i wouldn't worry to much about the tanny going till high mileage but the firmer shifts will like make to chirp 2nd gear and ur be glad u got it done it willn't slip as much i think

DO NOT increase shift firmness via PCM......it increases line pressure, and god knows when your tranny will start slipping and need a rebuild. don't increase line pressure unless you have a tranny that's BUILT FOR IT

I currently have just under 43,000 miles...

So some of you say do it, and some of you say dont.... know im confussed!

So I should expect about a 20hp increase from PCM4Less tuning

ask anyone that knows about transmissions, maybe someone will chime in, but increased line pressure on a stock 4L60E = early

I always assumed that more line pressure and quicker shifts meant less time the clutches were slipping. That would be a good thing.

search for LT1Dave or 12SCNDZ, these are two of the most well respected tranny experts on the board. ask them what they recommend, and go from there.
