I Hate Advance Auto Parts !!!
I ordered a Oil Cooler from advance. They guy verifies 3 times to me that my car is a 93-97 Z28 that already has the factory cooler (Which sucks big gnads) on it. I tell him yes. So he oders it (The factory oil cooler lines got crushed in the wreck , bought it totaled and am restoring now...and i like the idea of a oil cooler so i figured why spend 50 on the lines from Century 3 Chevy when i could get the aftermarket REAL cooler for 80 including shipping and the full kit to bolt it rite on to a LT1 F-Body) So i go pick it up ... it was sittin around for like 2 weeks because i was up my cabin for a week , and then i was busy working on other minor things here n there when i got a chance. So today i go to install the oil cooler, and going by the directions exactly , it left me with two hard metal lines sticking outta the sandwich adapter ( Where the oil lines go to and from cooler, its what the oil filter screws into) that would either ...
A- Slam into the motor mounts and not hook up.
B- Be in a DIRECT ****ING PATH to the Y-pipe when i put it on tomorow
So not only did Advace shaft me over with the shipping ( Suppose to be over nite and took 6 days ! ) but they gave me the wrong kit! I donno if its a LS1 or L98 Kit or sumpin but the way its made it sure as **** aint for a LT1 F-body ...
So then i did me some African Engineering and hooked up soft rubber hoses with flange adapters , so im ready to go ... well almost ... First i gotta get my hood latch on the front , and the wiper fluid resivior so i can see where i can actually mount the cooler ... I want it in the front so i gotta wait now for the wiper resivoir to come in ... God i hate ppl !!! lol ... And in addition to getting the wrong kit that i had to ****** rig to make it werk , they blow me off for sum guy who is older then me , maybe like 18 or 19 falshin money and talkin bout ordering all kinda garbage for his fagat *** Focus ...
Then the dude tried charging me extra ... maybe he wanted to pocket cash off a 16 year old , but somehow a 65$ cooler with 15$ shipping adds up for a grand total of 98$ so i was like "Umm , ... No... Can you go over the price something is wrong" and he is like "No its not but ill check neways" ... then he was like O Sorry Man ... GRRR i wanna go postal on the ****ers at advance lol ... This is like the 3rd time ive had trouble gettin parts with them ... Pep Boys from now on i guess

OH SH*T wrong thread sorry
ANyways I love my Advance Auto Parts. The people are nice and the prices are usually better than AutoZone or NAPA and they have the same warranty. I think you got shafted in your Advance Auto Parts place. I am 17 (which i am sure you have figured out by now
) and they have tried to do that **** to me too, just not a Advance auto. Good luck with your car. Just be patient it is well worth it.

Hey man, I usta work @ advance Auto.... and I never charged anyone shipping. Another thing, it's not the guy that works behind the counters fault your stuff took so long, he is not the one that went and picked it up or delievered it. It's the ppl the warehouses fault. Why did ya buy a oil cooler from advance anyway, shoulda got one out of summit or something liek that, they fit better, yeah you are gonna hafta bend the lines on whatever you get anyway, comes with the territory
Ordered it from them because it was a kit specifically made for F-Bodys ... and you cant bend the lines , they'd kink , these arent made to bent ... I got it from Advance cause I was down there to pick up some other minor stuff for the car so ... Guess your rite tho it really wasnt his fault but still ...
Where i live i depend on Advance Auto Parts...the autozone bites major ***, and the dealer marks up items way to much! I am sorry to hear about that...i had a mishap at autozone that pissed me off really bad.

In any retail situation, it's almost always the PEOPLE who make or break the store's reputation.
Recently I had an Advance/AutoZone story:
Alternator on our '96 Sonoma pickup slowly died at 88000 miles.
I pulled the three bolts and took it to my nearest Advance, which is one block off the arterial. One clerk was behind the counter checking out a line. One clerk one counter down was on the computer.
I walked up and stood there with the alternator balanced in my hand about chest high. Clerk never looked up, so in about 2 minutes I said, "Pardon me, do you test alternators here?"
"Yes, but I'm not on the clock." was his reply and he looked back down to the computer screen. I was dismissed from his brain.
"Ok, I'll go to AutoZone." I replied. I don't get mad, I get even.
AutoZone is 3 blocks away. When I walked in the manager was at the register checking people out, and no other clerks were visible. She looked up, and said "Hi." She saw the alternator and paged someone to the front desk. Alternator tested bad, and they had a replacement in stock.
While I was checking out the phone rang. Manager then asked me if I had just been to Advance. I said I had, and she said the clerk there had called to check. I told her the story, and we all had a good laugh.
Result, I spent $125 at AutoZone and left happy.
BTW, AutoZone sells Performance Friction brake pads, and Advance doesn't. I just order them online.
