Are you talking about this?

http://www.charm.net/~mchaney/ramair/ramair.htm

There is a company that made a scoop with the duct but I can't remember who it was. Look in an older GM HIGH-TECH PERFORMANCE mag thats where I seen the ad for it. But you can make it yourself too.

I did it to my 95 Trans Am... the whole thing took about 20 minutes...
First i took a piece of sheet metal, and bent and molded it to resemble a scoop basically if you want 90 degree angles just hammer it on a 2x4 piece of wood, I made the template using a piece of paper prior to messing around with the metal.

Then make small holes, big enough for a screw to go through on the flaps of the metal scoop

Cut out the hole in the plastic MEASURE CAREFULLY FIRST. I highly recommend using power tools, otherwise it will take 3 times as long, especially getting that first hole in.

Bolt the scoop into the plastic using drywall screws...

You can also cut out a piece of the air dam/spoiler/whatever to allow better air flow...

I did everything except cutting out the air dam... Mine attracts a lot of dirt because of the damn K&N filter oil got all over the plastic panel a few weeks ago.
I dont really think it made a difference, maybe i oughta try cutting out the air dam to see if it makes any difference in top end power.
Try it out, you really have nothing to lose... good to see if you gain in the top end... im pretty sure it would drastically reduce the air intake temp if the air dam were to be cut out.. since every 11 degrees that the air/fuel ratio is cooler you have a 1 percent increase in hp. All in all if I were to do it again, Id probably cut out a bigger hole, make a bigger scoop and cut some of the dam off for better air flow... well actually I still can but im too damn lazy

I'm getting ready to attempt this. But I'm going to fab mine up so I can use some kind of plate to block it off when not at the track. This way it'll keep dirt and water out. I've been planning this for a couple of weeks so things should go pretty smooth. When I first lay the template out, I'm going to mock it up with card board. Also, I've found that a soldering iron/pencil with the right tip will make short work of plastic. When I get mine going, I'll be sure to snap and post some pics of the install and finished product. I've heardof guys gaining up to 2 MPH with this mod. But like I said, it's all hear say so far.

some folks had done some testing with this a few years ago, and said that it seemed like it would be easy to evacuate the little space the filter sits in and create a slight vacuum there since with the filter in the way the opening for air to get in there is sorta small...personally, I made one for my 96, didn't make one for my 95...I noticed the CAI noise more on the 96, and I would almost swear I noticed more of a difference when I put the CAI on the 96 than on the 95. Take it for what its worth.

I cut the triangular part that's in front of the air dam out..
I thought it a good compromise.. it should 'pressurize' the filter area, while not collecting so much dirt/water..

Hey now that's some nice work... did you have to cut a chunk of the front air dam off as well? You found that at home depot? Kick ***.. beats folding out one out of metal!
