Question Heads and Cam or Spray?

I don't know what to do. I was going to get an NOS kit and then I chicken'd out. I feel somehow it would be cheating to get the NOS kit. Now I'm thinking of some heads and a new cam. That way, the power would always be there. I have stock heads and a HOT Cam installed right now. I'm trying to get into the really low 12's or high 11's. I'm at 12.46 right now. I was thinking of some heads around $1700 and the CC306. If I do, can I still use my heavy duty GM timing set? And, do I need new push rods? I would be doing all the work.

I would go H/C. No excuces of Bottle pressure too low, or no juice, ect. I like the "all motor" route though. You can reuse the chain if you want unless it has a lot of miles on it. You should not need to get new pushrods, but if you do, get chromoly. Better safe than sorry. I would spend a little more money on the heads and go with some CNC AFR's. And look into the extreme energy I think cam grinds. The group with the 503 line. The 306 is a good cam, but I have heard a lot of people putting down good numbers with that 503 cam. Then later, spray it.

Put in my vote for heads and cam. Although if I was you I'd probably keep the HOTcam for now and through some heads on there along with a good dyno tune.

Thanks. I don't know if I want to keep the HOT cam because I don't think I could go high 11's with it. Plus, if I have to do all that head work, why not a bigger cam with some serious power. Allthough, the HOT Cam is reliable, I don't drive it much anymore. twice a week mabe. I do like the AFR idea though. I have heard good things about AFR.

Well I say keep the HOTcam cause I'm a lazy bastard, and I don't like swapping more things than I have to. But good luck on whatever you decide!
