I have a transmission problem...need help.

This just started this morning and I'm not sure what's wrong. I have an automatic. When I am idle, then I go to accelerate, there is a delay until until 1st gear kicks in. If I don't hit the gas and just let go of the brake, the car doesn't go anywhere. Once I start giving it gas, it takes a second or two then it jumps into gear very roughly. Once I am going I don't notice any difference in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. It is only from idle to 1st gear.

I went ahead and got the transmission fluid flushed and replaced because it needed it anyway, but this did nothing.

Any ideas?

What color was the fluid before you changed it? I have heard of a lot of people having dark/black fluid, changing it and their tranny starts to go out.

Do you have reverse? Could be a torque converter.

Exclamation

I'm open to any and all suggestions. I noticed on my way to work this morning that it is not kicking into 2nd or 3rd quickly either. It isn't as noticeable since I'm already moving, but something is wrong.

I don't want to have to replace the transmission!!!!!

Torque Converter Costs???

Is it a big deal to replace the torque converter? Anyone have an idea how much they cost?

If the fluid is ok, and it does this hot or cold, it is most likely the forward clutch pack is going away. If you put it in manual low, does it change anything? If it does not shift out of 1st, I would have it checked out for a code.

Cool

I know this sounds dumb, but is the fluid level ok?After the car is warm, run the car through the gears(while in park),wait about 2 minutes, check the level. If the car has been running hard for awhile, let the car cool down for 30 minutes before checking. Also,I believe you have some kind of control module on the trans itself(outside)that may be going south.Hope this helps.
