Cool Bought a Z...

Yesterday I bought a dark green 96 z28. Auto, only 42,000 miles. It was owned by an older couple as their summer car, so I pretty much know it wasn't beaten on. I'm so excited.

I want to get a cold air kit (either k&n or slp) and a cat back system. I like how the flowmaster sounds, nice and deep. But I like the loudness of the slp LM. I'll probably go with the flowmaster but if someone wants to talk me into getting the LM, be my guest.

Congrats on the car. What rear end do you have ?

As for the mods the CAI is great and any brand will do. I got my LPE for 140. On the exhaust sounds like you want something loud. Flowmaster sounds cool but not alot of gain compared to others. If you have money i would consider the GMMG over the SLP LM. Magnaflow is sweet too, but if you want loud your gonna have to go elsewhere.

Borla/Corsa = ~$650 (Id advise stay away...)
GMMG = $700 shipped (best if you have the $$$)
LM = ~$300 (loud as all hell with ported heads/cam)
Magnaflow = under $300 (s/s btw...best if you have limited funds)

Just my $.02

Congradultions, get an owners manual, it comes handy when car keeps breaking . Car is fun to drive. Get 1.75 rocker arms ($350), headers (~350), and exaust (300), and you should gain around 50 hp

Sweet purchase. Like you have been already been told any intake will do. The only one that has been complained about is the G2. As for catbacks flowmaster has the least to gain. It does sound good but lack the performance of othere. I know I had one. Hooker is a good catback. It has a nice deep kind of quite idle sound and when you punch it it opens up. Loudmouth seem to be the favorite. If you dont have emisisons though and are planning on modding a lot more soon. I would not get a catback and get a cut and wait to get headers and true duals. If you have emissions that could be a problem though. The sound of true duals and the hp you pick up with them and Longtube headers is awesome. Happy modding
