Might be buying used cam, questions inside
First off
1. Is it a good idea to buy a used cam? I don't know if there are con's of doing this
2. What type of wear on the cam should I look for?
3. The cam is a CC306, ill be running 1.6 rr's, I have springs rated for a .550 lift. Will I need to buy new springs? What kind of lift will this cam give with the 1.6rr's
Thanks

used cams, used cars...they are all the same.
you must look for heavy scratching/rust/embedding of particles.
i just bought a used cam... i was worried when i got it...cuz it looked like a spun cam bearing, but i cleaned it and then it was okay. no tiny gouges and no discoloratoin.
thats what you wanna look for.
as for the springs.... i'd ditch em and get something with .600 lift. comp cams 987's work great for 306's with 1.6rr's.!!
better to have the right amount of spring than not enough.
