Anything I can do to save my tranny?
Just a few weeks ago my A4 started slipping a bit when going to overdrive. I checked the fluid it was fine. It has since stopped and now the 1st-2nd slipps tremendously. Again I have checked the fluid. I drove it yesterday and when I first got it, it didn't slip. But after driving it to the body shop to have some work done, when I drive it again it starts slipping. The fluid hasn't been changed in forever (I'm dumb). If I had the fuid changed would this might help? My dad told me there was a filter that might need changing. That so? Whats the likelyhood this will clear it up? The car has 139K on it.
Thanks for the replies guys. I'm heading to the shop this afternnoon to get the tranny fluid changed and the filter. Atleast if that doesn't clear it up, I'll know I did what I could. It sucks because I have been waiting all winter for track season to get here and now I want be able to race for awhile. But on the upside: new transmission, stall, shift kit.
if the filter change doesn't help I'd start to pull it cuz I drove mine like that and I ended up burning my pump up to due to low pressure. it ened up costing a pretty penny for the repair.
and I know how it feels to have to wait I have been waiting for high school nationals all winter and the day I take the car out of storage. I t-boned a mini-van thats ok though I kicked *** in the burn-out contest with my truck.
