Why does my private message area do this?

For example: When I click "refresh" on a particular board, sometimes I get a popup message alerting me that I have a new private message. So I click OK and get taken to my private message area. The default seems to be set to show all messages from last day. Even if the person has just sent me the message, it still says I have no new messages. I have to click the pull-down menu and make it show messages from last 2 days.

I hate to be a pain but having to make that extra click every time is irritating! Am I doing something wrong? Can I set this in my preferences?

I don't know why this is happening, but you can change the notification in the User CP under "Edit Options".

Give that a try.

It's not that I don't want to be notified... I actually like the popup alert thing. I just want messages sent within the last day to show on the "last day" screen, not the "within 2 days" screen.

It's the same concept as people being annoyed by "gateway" homepages.

I don't know if you did something, but now it's not doing the irritating thing anymore. It takes me right to where the messages are. Thanks, Jason!
