Obviously this place functions fine w/o the clock showing the correct time but its somethin that always caught my eye and I just had a glimmer of hope after the new version as installed, the "problem" would be fixed.

The "problem" was always on your end.

User Control Panel > Edit Options > (Scroll to "Date & Time Options")

Select the time zone you are in.

So you selected "(GMT -6:00) Central Time (US & Canada)" and it is still wrong?

Selecting your correct time zone will work. I'm currently using Eastern Standard Time and it works no problem. I just went and changed my Time Zone using the method Jason has graciously added here and it works like a charm.
