we need a transmission forum!

It is hard to get a knowledgable (I cant spell) response about trannies unless by some stroke of luck one of the tranny experts in here passes by it. Maybe we could make those experts (there are a number of them as you all know) the moderators of that forum. Doing this would help weed out a lot of simple questions in the advanced forum that dont need to be there (mine among others) and it would be easier to get information on trannies quicker and more accurately.

thanks
chris

You know I agree we need it too...

But I'm not holding my breath. I asked about it in the lounge...not as a suggestion...just to see if anyone else thought we should have one. My post lasted maybe an hour. And it didn't get locked or moved. It got DELETED.

Regardless of how many people come in here and agree, as I said before...if the admins don't want it, it won't happen.

Some people said "Well when you pay for the site, you can make decisions:

I say I DO pay for the site. So do you guys. Anyone who clicks on an ad or buys from an advertiser here pays for the site. If we didn't, they wouldn't advertise, and Jason and Chris couldn't afford the bandwidth it takes to make a site like this stay up and running.

Sorry, I didn't mean for this to turn into a rant...and I am sure the guys will be pissed at me for posting this as they usually are when I toss a pebble in the pond...but when its all said and done, I think a trans forum is a good idea. It's the only glaringly obvious hole on the board. And no excuses aboutit increasing bandwidth. I'm not buying itunless you can explain further how moving posts that would normally go in the LT1 Tech, LS1 Tech, Lounge, Advanced Tech, or any of the regional board to one location could increase bandwidth even a little bit. The posts will get mde anyway...it's just a matter of which heading you haev to click to get to them.

That's easy. I took out everything that wasn't needed for drag racing. Unbolting it was easy but finding a place to put it wasn't. I just wish I could lose wieght that easily.

Are you talking to me? That's easy too. Basically I modded everything but the motor. My goal was to make the car faster while maintaining reliability. Making the car lighter was is the best idea and it doesn't cost anything. Biggest mod gains:

1. Gears 323-373's gave me 3 tenths
2. TC, the PTS Xtreme converter gave me about 4-5tenths
3. Headers, about 4 tenths
4. 400lbs light, about 5 tenths
5. intake, 2 tenths?
6. Exhaust, 3" custom catback with dynamax muffler. Not the best but it came with the car when I bought it. It's good enough.

Item 2 is one of the best kept secrets. It REALLY woke my car up. Prolly the single best mod I did. The PTS Xtreme is one badass TC and few paople know about it. Here's a link:

or
http://www.ptsnctb.com/

And go to online catalog, converters, and you'll get the idea.

Here is a thread also if you want other opinions:

Oooops. How embarassing.

Yeah we really need a tranny forum here. I'd also like to see an ET list with mods. It helps me make and meet goals for my hot roddin'.

The thing is....my car looks like a theft recovery on the inside. There is no interior. Even half the dash is missing. But running light sure feels good.

I got my car to 3020 last wednesday with a 1/4 thank, only removed interior and jack.

BTW tranny forum woudl be nice(no *****'s )

What about plan old drivetrain forum?

12 bolts, 9 bolts, 10-bolts are pretty universal.

And stuff between 3rd and 4th gens are pretty interchangable. Also would cut down on traffic in the lt1 section(its a zoo there)
