Non F-body-specific tech forum?
Non F-body-specific tech forum?
Lots of us have other cars. We often have tech questions about them.
It'd be cool if we had a generic automotive tech forum for such things. Right now such threads are relegated to the lounge, which is less than ideal when you're looking for tech help.
Case in point:

i think it is a good idea also, alot of people dont use there f-body as a dd and need something else to drive, and not everybody can rock a trailblazer ss
this site is all about helping others, why not help people with there dd as well as their f bod

Yep, that is what it is for.

I think you are on the wrong site. You might want to check out:

A trailblazer is a pc. of crap......I would rather have a ford truck but then again I'm a straight man.

Son of a bitch!
Come on, though. I'm not asking you to fill the place with additional forums, or to re-name or re-purpose the site. It's just one additional generic tech forum. There are lots of questions that could be asked there that apply to F-bodies but aren't F-body specific. Plus, I'm sure you're aware that this site is one of the best sources of generic car knowledge on the web... why not acknowledge (and support) that?
If you object to generic stuff, then what's up with splitting off the 5th gen section and the Automotive News / Future Vehicle Discussion section? AN/FVD is obviously not F-body specific. Are you going to rename the site to CamaroPlusWhateverOtherCarsYouGuysAreReadingAbout.com?
Yep, I'm a son of a bitch. You've called me that in probably two dozen podcasts to date; I figure I might as well earn my nickname.
The lounge is for what's-for-dinner threads, boob threads, awesome youtube videos, and stuff like that. It's no place for technical assistance. Everybody knows that!
NOTE: I did get a decent response in my thread in the lounge, but still, I think it's a good idea.

And I just want to add that there are many people who are incredibly knowledgeable in the technical aspect that avoid the lounge like the plauge because of the content in there. So there could very well be a non-F body technical topic that will go largely unnoticed by the technical crowd just because of the notoriety that the lounge has.
"Basic other car tech" is partly what the Lounge was created for to begin with. Because tech guys don't go there due to the junk is an indication that some of the "regulars" (and we know who we are talking about) should make better choices of what they post here that might be better suited to other sites.
Post it there, others will help and follow suit, which has been proven. We are not going to be creating yet another forum when the Lounge does indeed suit it fine. Again, that is what it is for.

Indeed, it has. It's also been proven that the other Lounge content actually drives away people who are interested in tech stuff. There's no way you're going to turn the Lounge back into what you intended.
I'm getting mixed messages from you, Jason. Do you feel that CZ28 is not an appropriate venue for asking non-F-body questions (which you implied in post #2), or do you feel that you have already addressed this question by creating the Lounge?
Regardless, do you feel that the Lounge, as it is today, is really what you would consider to be a good place to ask a tech question?
Why the resistance? It would take you what, two minutes to create the forum? Give it a test drive and see how it goes.
I couldn't agree with JakeRobb more. The Lounge is totally absent of any tech help whatsoever. So instead of just creating one "Daily Driver Tech" forum are you gonna get rid of all the non tech threads in the lounge?
In the recent months this site's "management" as well as the "elite" has gotten really abrasive in their responses. Why is this? I've been visiting this site for over 7 years now and I have gotta say I don't remember a time when it has gotten this rough. We can have 5 stale forums on the upcoming Camaro but we can't have on DD forum? I don't see what the big deal is.

Heheh...come on, guys. You all know how this works. You ask the question, we give the answer and we don't expect a debate. You are reading too deep into what I am saying, and you should stop picking my words apart to make it look like I am saying something that I am not.
Here's the deal as mentioned above...
The Lounge has ALWAYS been for non-f-body vehicle tech questions (among other off-topic subjects of course.). This is a CAMARO site and posts about NON-CAMARO car tech is indeed off-topic to this site, and is what the is what the Lounge is for.
If you want Alero tech, either use the Lounge (or find an Alero site). That's where people have always posted things like that, it is nothing new.
I know where you are coming from and I think that it is cool that you want to use the site for everything but we simply are not going to make more yet forums to take away from the Camaro focus, especially considering what is coming down the line.
That's it.
Let me just add that we value all suggestions, and they are always noted. We take every single one into consideration.
