Lt1 heads
I am guna build a lt 383, I won’t be driving car that much.I want to get the most out of this motor and keep it around 10.8 compression.was thinking of have stock heads and intake ported,but I am not shut with all the heads out there,if this is the best option. Looking for advise on heads and camshaft specs to get the most out of this motor. It will be on street,but won’t be a daily driver or anything.

Really not a lot of heads for the LT1. You can mak over 500 HP at the flywheel with ported stock LT1 heads and intake, plus supporting mods. Two good sources, that can also supply a cam that meets your specific application:

trick flow offers a 215 intake runner and 58cc combustion chamber,with a 700 lift cam,it outa make power with long tubes,ported intake a 58mm throttle body and a good tune... or do you think it’s not worth it for aftermarket heads and I’m spinning my wheels and should just have stock heads ported.

I bought the 383 rotating assembly for a 100 bucks,and got the car free lol,I also bought long tubes 1 3/4 stainless headers for a 100 and Crane roller rockers and a bbk 58mm throttle body from same guy for 200.so I’m in it cheap n plan on spend around 4000 to get car going.the motor now has number 8 down so stead of going thru all work just Finn that guna do the 383 now.

It sounds like you want a weekend car to rip around in. Cost out the heads, you'll likely get better flow through stock heads that have been ported and polished than untouched aftermarket. Call LE and discuss your goals, they will point you in the right direction. You'll need some detail about your short block passed the stroke to make the best choices. What pistons dish/dome and what the CC is will be most impactful as it will have the most impact on your compression ratio.

I’d like to put a smaller shot no’s on it,it’ll be more less a weekend mess around car,the occasional street race,maybe take it to the strip,but it’ll be pretty much street racing weekend driver.goal is I’d like to be above 500 at the flywheel.id really like more just Duno if it would be possibly on pump gas without a turbo,and I’d rather not go that route

I never actually dynoed my car, so I couldn't tell you specific numbers. I am running the LT1 block with an Eagle 383 forged rotating assembly, with GM LT4 heads/intake that have been ported and polished. I can tell you that the last time out, a 5th gen SS wanted to play on the freeway and got beat by a car length from 60 to 120. That makes me think that I am between 450-500 at the flywheel. My pistons are dished and work out to about 11:1 CR. With flat top pistons you are looking at a high CR, which is going to make N2O and pump gas tough. If your pistons really have no dish, your compression ratio on 54cc combustion chamber heads is looking like 13.5:1ish, which will be a no go on pump gas. I would look up the piston by part number and check it out before you go any further.

im sorry if the block has .30 clearance.my stock heads should be 58cc from what I’m reading,I’d like to be close to 11 as possible,to maximize power out of the motor without having to run race gas. Around 10.8 would prolly be about perfect I think,but like you say I’m guna give Elliot power sports a call on heads and cam and see what they think also.

Your bore is 4.030. So that, a gasket of 4.1, compressed gasket .015, 2cc dish, 3.75" stroke, and a zero deck is 13.3:1
