Zaino Swirl Remover!
Re: Zaino Swirl Remover!
Also, for those getting ****ty results, alot of abrasive products should NOT be used by hand. Invest in a Porter Cable 7424 or equivalent/higher. If you already have one, LEARN how to use it. Hand use simply can not produce the same heat that a machine can.
Abrasive polishes need to be worked in long enough so that the diminishing abrasives break down enough (from generated heat) to leave a finer finish. If you make 1 quick pass with the polish and a DA buffer, swirls will be worse. If you actually work it in and let it break down, results will be good.

It also needs to be done right. Whether using Zaino, 3M or whatever SMR, using a buffer wrong and even by hand can ruin a finish. It likely is not the brand of product causing the problems, but the technique.

The instructions sure make it sound pretty hard to screw up. But if this many people are having issues then maybe they should put warnings in the product description that you must use a very strict technique to guarentee results. Then maybe DESCRIBE that technique, since I can't imagine just using an up and down or side to side motion to finish and only do a 4 square foot area at a time is really all that's necessary by the sound of it.

The Zaino SMR isn't any different than any other mild abrasive or swirl mark remover, used wrong and ALOT of people do, a person can mess up the surface royally. That is just common sense. If a person needs a warning on a label that using an abrasive can be harmful, if used wrong, they don't have enough sense to be doing it at all. In Sal's write-up on Fusion he even has all the words "abrasive" in bold text.

These are the instructions. For hand use sounds pretty straight forward... like it'd be pretty hard to mess up. But that may not be the case?

Work a small area (no bigger than 2' x 2') with the Zaino Fusion, using firm motions. Work the product for as long as necessary - stop to occasionally check your progress. Circular motions may be used, but always finish with front-to-back or up-and-down motions. When satisfied with progress, continue to step 4.
# For MACHINE use: Can be used by random orbital or (for experienced users) rotary. Select a moderate speed (RO - 4.5; Rotary - 1200rpm) and an appropriate cutting or polishing pad. Apply Zaino Z-PC Fusion to the buffer pad in a "star" pattern. Start machine slowly to reduce sling. Work a small (2' x 2') area with moderate pressure until satisfied with results.
# Buff the area clean with a soft, lint-free, non-marring towel. If satisfied with the results, proceed to next section. If more buffing is required, repeat either step 2 or 3. Problem areas like door handles (where keys often scratch) may require a few applications for best results.
# When done, apply either: Zaino ZFX enabled Z-2 PRO, Z-3, or Z-5 to the surface for a long lasting, great looking shine that will lock-in the results of your work with Zaino Z-PC Fusion.

Re: Zaino Swirl Remover!
I stand corrected.
It's funny though, a couple of people here don't like it, but on other boards they love the Zaino Fusion. On the corvette board it gets very high praises.

Re: Zaino Swirl Remover!
I tried the ZPC yesterday and was not satisfied. I thought before I read this that it may have been improper technique, but now I see others are dissatisfied as well. I only worked a small area approx 1.5' x 1.5' and small lines were left on the surface of the paint in the final direction that I finished be it up and down or side to side. I love the effect Zaino products have on my car and I would like someone to correct me if Im doing something wrong so I can have the same love for this product.

Re: Zaino Swirl Remover!
I'll be trying it this weekend and hope for a refund for my two bottles I purchased if not happy. I've been using Zaino on my car, others cars, and customer's cars (when I detailed for a living) for 7 years now and have never had to test their customer support in the past.
