Thumbs up

1. DAWN wash
2. Clay
3. 3M
4. Wash with Z7 or DAWN, either will do, I'd choose Z7 though..
5. Zaino away...

but isnt the point of dawning so you can apply the zaino directly to the paint and not old wax.
your method would have me putting zaino on top of 3m.or does z7 get rid of the 3m.
also im using mothers clay bar cause its the only thing i could find. it says to use its instant detailer as a lubricant. should i use the instant detailer, which i have, or should i use a soap water solution.

I'd prefer to use the Dawn to wash off the 3M residue. You can use whatever lube you want to clay, just use ALOT of lube as you clay. You can even mix up a soap solution using the Dawn or the Z-7.

Like I said, you can either use Z7 or DAWN to wash off the 3M residue. DAWN is the first process of removing old wax, heavy oils, and silicone buildup (if any) on your finish. The 3M does contain a light oil and solvents for gloss enhancement, but Z7 would have no problem removing those types of light oils, as would DAWN. So, IMO, you can use either. I'd choose Z7 because it will also lay down a thin layer of polish on the suface before your first coat. If you DAWN again after 3M, the soap could leave a film on the finish. Either way, you'll want to do a quick Z6 before you add your first coat of polish.

Use Dawn after 3M, there is a little silicone in the 3M and the Dawn will do a better job removing any traces of silicone.
