Question Zaino Applicators

How long does one of these generally last? I just read through some old posts after doing a search on this and read some interesting stuff. I've never used the actual ones that Sal sells, but in general, how long do yours last for you before they become worn out and scratchable?

Thanks,
Jeff

PS, MikeLS, how have the Foam applicators worked for you?

Hey Jeff,

I'm really loving these Viking foam apps for applying Zaino. After using them for a while, I'd say the benefits of the foams are: easy to get consistent and very thin coats, smooth controlled application (almost feels like your rubbing butter with the foam), they become saturated much quicker than any terry app that I've used in the past (which means it soaks up less product per application), and no scratching. I still use Sal's applicators for things like swirl removal or compouning where I feel terry apps work best. I like the foam quite a bit!

FWIW, I've still got my origional terry apps that I got from Sal with my very first Zaino order back in April 2000. I don't think I've thrown one of his away yet, they're all in near perfect or good shape. I've got quite a collection of his apps! If you put them in the washing machine often they won't last very long, so I hand wash them when they need it.

I've used several of them over and over and over. If you hand wash them they will last alot longer. If you machine wash them do it in the gentle cycle and don't put them through the dryer.

Mine last quite a long time, but I also wash them right away at the sink. When they get to bad I always find other uses for them such as applying Z-16 etc

Thumbs up

Thanks everyone.

I have decided that I am going to leave nothing to chance this year, detailing wise and not being satisfied. Example, last year, I didn't order clay, instead I used my existing Mothers clay. I didn't order applicators. I used my own applicators and never washed them. And I also am starting to think that it's my towels that's causing my existing spiderwebbing/swirl problem. Since there is so much testimony about Fieldcrest.

So that's why I'm researching the ***** out of the history of this forum.

Mike, If Sal's applicators don't work for me then I will be trying your foam pad idea.

Jeff (trying to be more optimistic )
