why does zaino do this?
Well first off i have done all the proper preparation things and clayed my car. The car is black. Well last week i put z5 on my car and didnt wait long enough for it to dry but i thought it was dry so i took it off, then put a cover on my car. I got the car out a couple of days ago and thier is marks of where the wax was on my car going up and down and it looked horrable. So i washed my car really good with the zaino car wash. Then i tried to buff the marks out. So today i washed my car then put z5 on it in the shade. Now i started taking it off and all i see is light marks next to dark marks and it is kind of an eye sore. It looks as if i misses areas but i didnt; almost like my fingers were imprinting the wax. Can somebody please tell my why there is light marks next to dark marks. Thanx a bunch
Did you use DAWN or similar soap before applying Zaino? Did you Z6 before applying the polish?
How long are you letting it dry before buffing?
What types of towels are you using?
If you wash with Z7, do the marks go away or seem less noticeable?
It's hard to figure out what's going on without more specific info...

I used dawn before i did zaino. I do not use the z6 stuff tho. I proley should order some. When i washed the car the marks didnt go away. The marks look as if i missed spots when buffing the z5 off; kinda blochy and like lines. I put the z5 on at 2:00 in the shade and let it sit in the sun till 6:00 when i started taking it off. So i m a little confused of why i am getting these marks left behind after i buff the zaino off.
Did you put on Z1 or mix the Z5 with ZFX before you applied The Z5?

I'm no expert, but I have a black car, and Z-5 never takes more than 30-40 minutes to dry (without ZFX).
If you don't use ZFX, you do have to wait at least 24hrs for the first coat to fully cure before doing a second. I would strip it all off and start from scratch.
Black cars usually look unbelievable with a couple coats of Z-5.

Umm, no, DAWN is for removing all that oily and silicone crap from previous carnauba wax use...
blk97z,
Did you apply Z thinly? Can you estimate how much polish you used for one coat? Thinner is most certainly better with Z. If you overload your car with polish, it might become hard to buff and cause streaking, whcih is usually easy to remove with water and Z7. Just some thoughts...

Let's see if we can drift back to the intended purpose of this message and help a fellow Camaro out here.
I am new to Zaino and worked black paint with extraordinary results. I previously used carnauba products and respect every individuals preferences, based on THEIR experiences with various products.
I'm not here to buy or sell anything, I appreciate people's successes and failures with various products, so that I can make educated decisions about future product purchases.
The intent of this site is to share news and information with members who share a similar interest in f-bodies. If I wanna crap on someone, I'll call my pals with MUSTANGS!!

Sorry i havent been on for a few days. Yes i applied approx. 1 ounce of z5 to the car in as thin as i could see it. Is their such thing as applying too thin of coats. Should i re wash with dawn and re clay my car and restart the process or will i b ok. Although when i started using zaino it was kinda damp outside and rainy, but i had the heat on in the garage to 72 degrees. How much faster does the zfx stuff work and also is the z6 worth buying. THanx
No need to redawn or clay. The Dawn won't remove the Zaino and you only need to clay when the surface begins to get a little rough again or if you missed a spot.
You can't apply Zaino too thin. Some people are able to get a complete coat out of 0.5 oz. or less.
The ZFX makes drying MUCH faster and you can do back to back coats with it. It also creates a better shining and more durable and better protective surface.
The Z-6 is probably used the most by most Zaino users. It makes the surface shiny, slick and takes away the static completely. It is WELL worth getting.
