What to use

Hi guys,

My father and I bought a 68 Camaro. I was wondering what would be the best stuff to clean it with to give it the perfect shine.

Thx guys

I would recommend Zaino, but what is the condition of the paint. You might have to do some prep work, like is there swril marks or scratches in it. Is the paint smooth or have a rough texture.
- If so you need to start with a clay bar (to remove any contaminants)
- For scratches use a 3M Fine Rubbing Compund. For swrils use the 3M Dark Swril Remover.
- Then finish up using the 3M Polish Look, to remove any left over really fine spider webs.
- Finally apply Zaino.

I wouldn't recommend Zaino. I have used it quite a few times myself and I'm beginning to question its quality. Often if my car sits outside in goodweather where all that happens is that it builds up moisture in the morning, that moisture beads into water and takes forever to dry, while leaving water marks on my black top. I've bought a noah car cover from carcoverworld.com .. the problem is that serious .. Anyone else have the same problem or recommend anything besides Zaino?

Water, Dew, moisture has nothing to do with Zaino, if you let water dry on the car that is not pure, the water spotting is the impurities of the water that is left behind when the water evaporates, has nothing to do with Zaino or any other kind of wax or polish.

The results of Zaino on my black car (bottom of page)... it gleams

My only complaint is that it seemed to bring out certain imperfections [rather than hide them], specifically the nicks in the front clip. (you can see a bit of what im talking about on the hood in this pic) However it did a good job of hiding other scratches and what not on the car.

Does a '68 have a clearcoat? and would that effect results?

Make sure you post before and after pics. (I just wanna see a beautiful 1st gen)

It really depends on the condition of the paint. I've found that Zaino is best for maintaining paint that's already in pretty good shape.

Zaino won't hide blemishes, it is 99% optically clear. It won't fix bad paint, it has no abrasives. The Z-5 will fill in minor swirls as each coat is added.

As far as water spots that may accumulate after a rain or dew, they wipe right off very easily with the Z-6 detail spray.

If the 68 paint is original it does not have a clear coat.
