What causes this is a defect in the chroming process itself, when the metal is being chromed and going thru the many plating steps it takes to get to the final plate, if contamination in the way of dirt or grease gets between on layer of brass or so forth, the chrome may pop off one day.

So this should be covered under warranty, as it is a factory defect?!

thanks Kevin..

I would think bumper to bumper warranty would cover it.
