Weekend Detailing Plans!
Well, it's going to be in the 70's here this weekend, the first time in ages. My car is filthy from rain and salt after we had snow and ice last week. So, a very intense cleaning is going to be needed this weekend, since it'll be the first good weekend we've had in a long while. Man I can't wait for warmer weather! Having a dirty car with no chance to clean it myself is depressing.
My plans for now include a two-bucket wash with Z7, thorough wheel detailing, glass cleaning, leather cleaning, and then.....the good stuff.
It's time to break out the Zaino polish supplies and go to work on a couple cars, mine included. I'm having Z withdrawals and can't wait to get my car nice and shiny again. So, I'll probably be using ZFX with Z2. I need to clay too, but I'll have to see how my time goes. So, that's about what I have planned. My MicrofiberTech.com MF towels came in yesterday, and they feel great. They look to be much better quality than anything I've found locally. I did the CD test on the Elite MF towels and they seemed to pass. So, can't wait to try them with a wax or polish! However, I also got the Big Gray Waffle Weave Towel for drying (along with the Absorber) and it actually seemed to leave some marring on the CD, so I'm a little worried about using it. We'll see....
What's everyone doing this weekend (or today) to give their preferred version of the show car treatment or just a quick touchup?
Mike, (impatiently waiting for the weekend!

It's supposed to be around 40 degrees on Saturday so I'll pull the hose out of the garage. It's on one of those wheels and it's in the garage so it doesn't freeze. I'll hook it up and rinse the truck off, get under the wheel wells. Usually by this point, I can't feel my hands, so I go inside and thaw out.
70 degrees Mike? You dastard!

As soon as it warms up a little more today, I'm gonna get off my butt and break out the Zaino for the Formula!! I'm going for Z5 or maybe Z2.
I'm also going to wash the wife's car.
It is supposed to be 66 today and 78 tomorrow!!! I'm not sure what my plans will be for tomorrow, so I'm going to go ahead and wash today!!!
Warm weather rocks!

It has been only in the 60's here in Phoenix, but it is 75 and sunny for the next 10 days so the wifes Camry is getting the Wash, Clay, Wash Klasse, Klasse, S100 treatment this weekend. Warm weather rules all.
It's in the upper 70's here. Yesterday, I washed/clayed/Z1/Z5'd both my truck and the Formula. They look sweet as hell, especially after being Z6 sprayed and tire/vinyl polishing everything with Z whatever # it is
(Z16?). Also went ahead and hit all non-tinted surfaces with Z12 glass polish. Cars both look new again. There are few things more satisfactory than seeing 2 perfect looking cars in my driveway

BTW: Extra coat of Z5 on the Formula and Z2 on the truck drying right now.

Great! Sounds like I'm not going to be the only one out this weekend doing a little cleanup. To the one's still shoveling snow and cold weather, I'll try to send a little of our warmth your way.
Welp, time to get the day started and get these cars cleaned! Have fun everyone, that's what it's all about anyhow!

OK, here's what I got done so far today...... washed the car twice with Z7, full claying with another Z7 wash, Z6ing, and so far 1 coat of Z2 with ZFX. I anticipate getting at least 1 or two more coats on tonight. What I was most impressed with so far was the Zaino clay. Just from using the clay I feel the car looked so much better, clearer, and felt as smooth as silk. I love the Zaino clay!! It so easy to use and gives great results without scratching. Of course, I used the Z18 clay on my old car too, but I guess I forgot how good it really is. Regardless of what wax or polish system you are using I'd HIGHLY recommend you clay the car. Every time I do a full claying, the car comes out so much better IMO. I also cleaned the carpeting and other interior touchups....
Also, I used the www.MicrofiberTech.com "Elite" towels for the Z6 and they worked great! Can't wait to use them to remove the polish! If you need a high quality towel for wax or polish removal, or for just QDing, the MFTech are nice.
Oh, and I washed two other cars too, but they don't deserve the showcar treatment.....

This is what I've done so far, and my car is looking outstanding! Zaino rocks!!!

cool, sounds like you had a busy day detailing. i bet the Zaino looks great. i cleaned the interior of my tahoe today but that is all i have time for. worked until 230 and now im off to the cleveland car show. cant wait to get my Zaino in the mail! i ordered the claybar and everything else they have basically! cant wait to use them, then ill have to spent a whole weekend doing my cars like you! cya
It turned out to be a better day than expected so I was able to do more than I planned on........but I didn't. Not because I didn't want to, but I had other things that couldn't wait. As it turned out, it rained pretty hard after dark anyways, so I would have been SOL either way.

I figured I'd revive this thread since it's supposed to be 50 degrees this weekend!!!
I won't be polishing, but I will be washing. Still not warm enough to polish, but 'even the longest journey begins with a single step.'
That line was Splinter from the Ninja Turtles.

Hey Jeff!!
Great! I told you I'd send a "little" warmer weather for some of you folks.
I'm saving most of it though.
It's supposed to be in the 60's and 70's again this weekend and for the next several days afterwards.
For the longest time, a wash was very hard to come by around here. When the weather and/or time doesn't permit doing more, washing is great. At least you can enjoy being outside and doing something productive with the car.
Have fun!!!
Mike

p.s. Don't know if I'll be doing any detailing this weekend, but I might. My final tally for last weekend was 2 coats of ZFX (from 1 ounce) on the car, one coat for the wheels, clayed the car, washed it a few times
, and cleaned the carpeting. Maybe this weekend I'll condition the leather......gotta do something to cure the detailing bug right?
It's supposed to be a great weekend here, but rain predicted for early next week, so I guess I'll hold off on washing this weekend. I actually went most of this week pretty clean. We got a slight rain shower duing this week, but with 2 fresh coats of ZFX on, you couldn't even tell the car was dirty or had been driven in rain!! Gotta love it!
I'm just waiting for more warmer weather so maybe I can try a few new products that I'm still thinking about......

Also, I washed the truck for the first time today. It looks great. I would have taken pictures but I currently don't have access to a digital camera. I will soon though.
Cheers,
Jeff
