Washing the camaro

I was told that cleaning the engine can ruin the opti because it will get wet...is there an easy way to get the engine looking clean without pulling it and cleaning it, and without screwing up the opti? Also, a friend of mine has the "salad shooter" rims on his Z28 and he used, I think, the Turtle Wax Wheel Cleaner, and it left faint, white streaks on his rims. What caused that and what is a good wheel cleaner that you guys have found to be good?

I dunno what would have caused the white streaks but a good wheel cleaner is the Eagle One A to Z wheel cleaner...works like magic left my wheels the cleanest they have ever been
