Very Odd Question

I was looking at the back of my sister’s car and noticed rust on the paint. It is very odd feels just like rust looks like rust but it is on top of the paint. I have never heard of anything like this so I took it to auto zone and they said it was probably coming from some trim around the window but had no idea of what to do about it. It is hard to see from a distance but up close if very obvious when close. She dose not take care of her car at all it only gets washed every few months so I am not surprised that there is a problem but can not figure out the fix. I took a few pics and put them on here look under rust.

I was just wondering if you guys could suggest anything. I have thought about a clay bar or maby some rubbing compound how would that work.

Thanks for any help

Wash the car REAL good and try the claybar, itshould remove it. I'd also wash your car more often to keep fropm having problems with the finish, if you plan on keeping it.

Its probably just carbon or some rust from the exhaust or maybe rail dust. Clay Bar should remove it.

Ok good that is what I was thinking of trying. I tell her to take better care of it but she never dose.

Thanks for the help
