Using Pledge on the paint?

Heard of it as an old "hotrodder's trick"

any thoughts on it? does keep crap off your car? like rubber if you go to the track?

Re: Using Pledge on the paint?

Using Pledge will make it shine for about 10 minutes but that is it. It won't protect or last at all.

It was a trick simply to use at car shows for a quick glosssy look for the judges. No one uses it to protect the finish.

As far as the rubber, you could put a coating of wax on and not remove it. It will make it easier to remove the rubber. There is also a product made especially for that purpose.

Cool I never thought of it as a protectant, just always heard of people doing it and recently saw someone do it in a vid... Just curious

Re: Using Pledge on the paint?

to removethe rubber build up I use kerosene & it works great & wont hurt the finish . just wax the area after you use the Kerosene.

Re: Using Pledge on the paint?

some silicone spray would keep rubber off your car. Give it a good wash when you get home to get the silicone off.
