Question Touching up paint chips

I seem to recall seeing somewhere a gizmo that is supposed to slice the bump off paint touch up spots so they are level with the surrounding paint. Anybody know about this? I know I'm applying too much paint but even thinned down I have a hard time applying a thin enough coat that will cover the spot yet not make a bump. I'm afraid to use an abrasive to try to grind the bumps down for fear of harming the surrounding paint. How else can they be smoothed out?

I think you are talking about http://www.langka.com I have never used it but, I think you supposed to level down the chip with this fluid before the paint dries competely, after that you could wet sand the area with 2000 to 2500 paper and use a compound thereafter to even out the look.

Thanks for the link, that name sounds familiar, I'll take a look. I've never done this kind of detail work before, all previous cars were old when I got them. This 89 T/A is the first new car I've bought and it still feels like a new car to me so I hate to "learn" to fix paint on this special car.

I've tried that in the Mothers chip repair kit..the beauty of it is that no sanding should be required.
