Tire Shine?

I want something that will leave my tires looking nice and black but doesn't leave a residue on them.

I've used some stuff called Black Magic but it leave an almost greasy residue on them everytime and I'm sick of it.

Suggestions for making my tires look good?

Turtle Wax Tire Wax. You wipe it on. Give it a couple of minutes the buff it off like wax. It don't leave any residue or grease.

My favorites are Zaino Z16 and Meguiar's Natural Shine. The key is to use a tire swipe to apply your dressings.

Re: Tire Shine?

Hands down, from Griot's Garage - Vinyl and Rubber Dressing. It doesn't leave a glossy look, or a shiny look, or a greasy look, just a deep black natural satin look. I apply it with one of the sponges that are shaped to the contour of the tire sidewall. Awesome stuff. Also, it's the best stuff I've ever used on the interior as well. Not greasy at all, not streaky. It just makes the plastic and vinyl interior parts look new and natural again, and makes the color nice and deep.

I've tried lots of others, and nothing compares.

That sounds very much like Meguiar's Natural Shine...have you compared the two?

I haven't used Meguiar's Natural Shine, no. I haven't used anything else since the Griot's product. I really don't feel an urge to either, to be honest. This vinyl and rubber dressing has filled my needs completely. It's one of those products that just stood out compared to the rest.

Just going by the name, Meguiar's Natural Shine, it sounds like the right kind of tire/ vinyl dressing that I would like. I can't stand the greasy products, those that leave a glossy finish, or those that leave an extremely slippery surface.

Re: Tire Shine?

I would highly recommend you try it...seeing that 16 oz. is under $5 a bottle and the Griot's is a tad more (8 oz. for $10).

I'll probably do that, but I have a big bottle(32 oz?) of the Griot's left. A little bit goes a long way too. I made it a few years on one 8 oz bottle, so it might take me a while to work my way through what I already have.

I only need to apply the dressing to the dash components once per year, and it lasts. Sometimes I give it another coat in the fall, but the stuff holds up really well on the interior components. The tires get done every car wash, as I always clean the tires anyway.

You can solve this by taking a sponge or damp terry cloth piece of fabric and running it around the tire, it will remove the excess tire glosser. I also will sometimes use a little simple green in some water to do this, I also use Stoners trim and interior cleaners to clean the dirt off my tires and the natural shine of the rubber and tire gloss that is still there will come back out...............

Depends on where you live too. Here in vegas i used some stuff (i think it was Black Majic too) and it weather cracked the sidewalls after several uses. So now i just wash them w/ soap n water

Re: Tire Shine?

I use any spray foam, really. Right now I have Meguiars.

However, I spray onto a towel and wipe it onto the tire.
