Seat back release ****

I need to get this little thing off so I can slide the seat cover up and off for an upholstery repair:

There is a small hole on the side of this **** but it appears to be just a hole. I can see bare steel but no allen hex, slot or torx screw. I've tried prying along the inside of the back of ****, looking for a release tab but seem to have found nothing. I've also tried simple prying but have come to the limit where I figure any more and it will be broken.

If you have any knowledge of how to remove this **** without breaking it, please let me know.

Thanks

Thanks Kevin, it helps. I've been struggling with it because of the side hole. I thought there was some kind of release mechanism. As for the hole, there's no purpose for it other than to give me a view of the metal lever. Since I've elongated the inside hole, I can see a bump on the lever. With your advice and from what I can see, it appears the hole and bump "latch" it into place. Unfortunately I've pretty much butchered the **** up just trying to pry and prod it free. I'll go for broke now and force it off with a claw and cloth. Brent Franker has a page on replacing the leather seat cover on his 96. I'm thinking he mentioned that it was a hard pull release now that you have confirmed it too. It's become a little to lose situation for me now.

Thanks

Hehe, I took two wood slats and slipped them behind the ****. I pulled and thought nothing happened, it is dark in the car inside the port, besides that, I always struggle with things with my eyes closed tightly. I pulled a couple more times and said a few words of enchantment. Turns out the **** was off on the carpet and my wood had snagged the hooked part of the lever. Kinda explains why I needed your help.

Thanks again!
