safe wheel wash question

i just bought a set of 00' painted SS wheels with about 12k miles on them so they have quite a bit of built up of road dust/dirt on them and i am wondering what can i use to make them shine like new again? i am thinking i will need some kind of degreaser but what kind is safe on painted wheels? i have already tried scrubbing them with just plain ol' car wash but i need something stronger from the 4 years of build up. let me know.

I would wash, clay, and use a paint cleaner like Klasse AIO. After you have them cleaned to your satisfaction, apply a sealant (Zaino, Klasse, etc.) to protect them.

Not that I am aware of. The cheapest place I have found it is at www.topoftheline.com

It is a great paint cleaner and has some acrylic protection in it. You can use on just about everything except rubber.

Just a question. Why didnt you clean these in 4 years? I cant imagine what these would look like... Does that mean your car hasnt been washed in 4 years?

Re: safe wheel wash question

Four Star Ultimate Wheel Cleaner Gel works good with some agitation with a soft brush, but if you want to buy locally, try Eagle One A2Z diluted 4:1 or so. I wouldn't recommend using it full strength on painted wheels.

After they're clean, follow ZaneO's steps - clay, paint cleaner and seal. I used Klasse AIO and Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection 1-2 months ago on my wheels, and they still bead and clean up very easily. Pretty much any synthetic sealant will work fine (yes, NXT works good too).

I'm not butthurt, but there is no reason for for questions that don't make any progress.
