Question about surface prep.

I use Zaino products and I have a question. Today, I did a wash, clay bar treatment and application of Z2 for clear coat. Right away, the pad gets gray as if the surface of the paint was dirty. Surely after wash and clay bar, there couldn't be much dirt left. What is going on here?

Re: Question about surface prep.

Either you've still got something stuck on there or your clear coat is seriously thin. At my work when the detail guy is buffing older vehicles a lot of time the buffer pad will turn the same color as the vehicle. You could try different areas of the vehicle and see if they affect the pad the same way.

I've noticed that with Z2 as well. I finally came to the conclusion that there is no contamination/dirt on the car. I think that's just the nature of Z2. I guess one could e-mail Sal and ask.
