Price for a body shop re spray

Im looking at getting my car repainted and am wondering what people have had done, and what it cost them. Id prefer profesional bodyshop prices over "I do it on the side as a hobby" prices....................Ive been down that road more than once. All im lookin for is a basic scuff and respray, no jams, or engine compartment. Also no previous paint jobs. Thanks Eric L

I paid 2000 for mine at a body shop. Just got it out about two weeks ago. That included the stripes.

That is nice, I like the way the stripes and cowl hood kind of tie in together. Thanks, Eric L

I would say between 1-2k depending on coats of paint and clear, prep, finish sanding and buffing. etc.

I would check out the paint booth, meet the painter, and look around in the shop. If the place is dirty move on. The good bodyshops are kept clean.

Get some quotes and post them.

I had a complete color change done a while back. The body work cost about ~$2500 + Tax and a fender. From there I had it sprayed.

I then had it sprayed at a new GM dealership shop for $1150 after tax and it turned out awesome. For myself, this time of year is ideal. In the winter the shops are really busy here with repairs, during the fall it was their dead time. If I had of had that done in the spring or winter it would have cost more.

For a pro job that looks great with no body work needed other then chip repairs and such. No less then 5k. your looking at atleast $1000 in material alone. Atleast 25hrs in just wet sanding and polishing. Atleast 10hrs to take doors apart and bumpers off and misc dismantal and put back together. Another 25in prepping, sanding, chip repair and masking for paint. Another 3-4 hrs in priming or sealing then painting. Your looking at atleast a honest 40-50hrs of labor. add the shop labor rate of $60.00hr then misc and energy and tax.
