please help me I think I #$@%ed up my paint!!!!

I got a scratch on my front bumper, got some rubbing compound, rubbed it, and now the whole patch that I rubbed looks like total crap, totally scratched, not shiny at all. I tried applying some wax but it didnt help at all. I cleaned off the car, used water, etc, it won't return to being shiny, did I mess up my car??????? PLLLLEEEEASSE tell me what I can do to undo what I did to my baby!!!!! I'm about to burst a blood vessel, before this my car had 0 scratches. It looks like the compound took off the clear coat, if that is even possible???

Rubbing compund is way too rough to use on most scratches, you would have been better to use a product like 3M Scratch and Swirl Remover, in fact I would use that to polish the deep scratches out where you compounded, that should help the problem area. Follow that with a hand glaze to get the area smooth and shiny, and then apply your favorite polish/wax and you should be fine depending on how hard you rubbed the compound and how deep your scratches are in the clear coat. Did you do this by hand? A buffer would do a better job if you have one or know someone that does
