Unhappy paint problem

I have a 99' Z28 and I generally use the mequier three step cleaner, polish and wax system. I applied the cleaner to the whole car and it worked great except for a section along the front passanger side from the mirror to the headlight. It looks like real hazy and dull and feels real rough. This is the only spot on the car that did this and I tried rubbing polishing compund to get it off and it didn't work.... any suggustions?

Thanks
Danny

A few things to try....in the order I would probably go until it looks and feels like you want.

1) Wash the area with a medium or heavy concentration of DAWN
2) Clay bar the area (this will get rid of any roughness/grit)
3) Rub the area with a mixture of alcohol/water
4) Use another coat of paint cleaner or swirl remover

After you restore it to original, apply the Meguiar's polish for extra gloss and finish with the wax for protection.

Did you happen to leave the cleaner on that panel too long? Cleaners need to be rubbed in and quickly buffed out. If they dry on the surface, it could cause dullness, uneven gloss, or even roughness.

Hope this helps!

It sounds like paint overspray maybe. Has your car ever been painted on?

A buddy of mine recently bought a red '95 Cobra and while most of the cars finish is nice and shiny and well kept there is one spot below and beside the passenger head light that is dull, rough and is obviously a different finish then the rest of the car. We both think the previous owner got some damage done there and used some cheap Macco type paint job in that area that is not of the same quality as the rest of the car. Looks to only be a base coat job too with no clear. You might have this same problem. I would have to see it in person to know for sure.
