new paint, when can I use soap
new paint, when can I use soap
Just got my car back from the collision center. front fenders, front bumper cover and hood were all painted. How long should I want before I use soap on it? Also, can I use wax or spray detailers?
You should ask the body shop for their recommendation, but I'd say you could wash after about 7-14 days, wait a couple months before you starting waxing or polishing. Some glazes are probably safe to use sooner on new paint.
you can wash it whenever. Wax is the only thing you cant or shouldnt put on it. When i was still working in a bodyshop we would glaze and polish something right after it was baked. Well after we sanded it we would polish and glaze it.
I would maybe wash it with your hand and the soap suds. On anything black of white this is what we would do. Its just too easy to scatch and we learned out lesson after re doing ****.
Spray detailers work to protect and shine in between waxings, i dont know if they would be safe or not. I would just stick to washing it and maybe a polish if needed.

Wizards mist and shine(Quick detailer) is safe to use on fresh paint. You can wash it but you can't wax it for atleast a 30days. You can use like Wizards Shinemaster, it's a breathable polish and sealant.

Painted it, was easier than i expected except for some black paint that got through the tape and newspaper and got on the red paint. Clay Bar got it off though. Looks much better than i expected for my first time. the P O N T I A C letters in the rear bumper got messed up but its only visible from within 5 feet away. Anyhow, i ordered the vinyl inserts to go back and fix it instead of trying to re paint it. Its just a huge hassle to get it perfect. Washed it and everything was fine. Got some more stuff to do in the next couple of weeks but i'll get some before/during/after pics up when all is done.
