Question Need help with inner wheel wells.

Tips on how I get them a shiny black? Paint them? They look bad, especially in pictures. Their all dull and grey.

I painted mine with POR-15 along with the differential, but you can paint it, use Back to Black, tire dressing/foam. I'm sure you'll get a few more ideas from others.

I paint mine every 2 years or so with POR 15 semi gloss black using a foam brush, jack the car up on each corner and so forth.

Question

How well does POR15 adhere to the rubberized undercoating there in the wheelwell? Will it flake? Does it dry hard? What if in the past tire cleaner has oversprayed on to the surface, will it still adhere? Do you use their marine clean stuff prior to applying? or just a non-petroleum based cleaner?

My car is a B body so I do not have that rubber stuff like you do, I don't use the Marine Clean but I do like to wipe the area down with some carb cleaner, seems to make it stick reall good. I put POR 20 on my calipers and rotor hubs. POR 15 semi gloss black is excellent on rusty sway bars and axels, makes them look like they have been powder coated.

I used to use tire foam, but it never lasted very long. Try cd2 engine cleaner and detailer. I have not tried it but am going to as soon as I bring the car out of storage. You can get it at target. It comes in two bottles a detailer and a cleaner. All you need is the detailer. Just wash them good and dry them and then put on the engine detailer in the well wells. The guy said it lasts fairly long and leaves them looking jet black. Just watch how you apply it so you don't get it all over the fenders. I used to use tire foam and was using it when it was windy and it got all over the fender and I had to wash the car.

I scrub mine with dawn, and then use Armorall (original stuff) to dress them up. It works great, and after a few coatings, they'll get darker.
