My new Z06 and black paint help questions.
It is actually nice to be back here. I haven't posted since about 2 years ago. I sold my 97Z and got an Audi. Now I am back but, with a new very low miled 2001 Z06 vette. My questions are...
1. Since the car is black, and will be much harder to take care of, is there any way to help hide some of the white nick marks from rocks that build up on the bottom of the side of the car. This happened on my red Z, but was less noticeable. The car is in great condition and I am a zaino buff, but never had black before. Is there anything that will help minimized those white specked chip spots that are not avoidable?
2. The black plastic on the side rear vents seem like they have some white on them from rocks and extra wax as well. What is the best way to help get these things better restored? Mothers back to black is not helping too much, it needs to be cleaned.
Thanks for your help!
Jon

Sure, use what I do, it is called body saver tape. It is thick clear tape that sticks to the paint, I apply it behind tires, lots of people use it on the rear of C5's If you put it on correctly it is hardly noticble.

Try rubbing alcohol or prep solvent using an old tooth brush, and peanut butter is also know to work.

Black will be very hard to keep looking good, but it does look greta when clean. The Vette has very soft paint, much softer than most cars, so you will get more stone chips. The side Z06 vents get marked up very easy, they will turn a slight shade of white on their own, and most treatments do not mask the problem.
Thanks for the replies. I will try them both. I am also debating on claying my car. There are some places that need it. Seems to be some minor road debre. Overall though, the car is great and shines very well. I am just nervous about claying a black car. I did my red Z, but black is less forgiving.
Should I worry much about getting tiny scratches from claying my black Z? I really want to do this, but I am not sure. I don't want to mess it up.
Thanks,
Jon
