Meguiers Collor X

I have been thinking about using meguiers collor ex here soon since the car has 112k miles. I use show shine and NXT so it looks good but I want it to look even better (black car). I have heard it works fine by hand but have heard it is very bad to use to much. How much is to much? Anyone have any opinions on the product in how well it works?
Right now I do paint cleaner, show shine, NXT.

Paint is in good shape for the mileage, just starting to see some fading and oxidation here and there.

Re: Meguiers Collor X

well, i used it on my rs, it seemed to not wanna come off
no matter how much i rubbed, it still seemed like some was on there (and you could see little swirls)
maybe i was using too much like you said?
i don't know, i was thinking of maybe trying it out again this weekend or next
let me know if you use it, how it goes for you

Its not the most user friendly. rather thick, this is why you have removal problems. Kind of hard to apply a thin coat of a thick pasty liquid. If you have oxidation, it can be used successfuly for that, it really is a good product, just difficult to use sometimes. Add a spritz or two of quick detailer or water during removal, see if that helps ya a little.

ColorX got down to 3 bucks at Wal-Mart before it disappeared from the shelves. I bought a bottle for 5 bucks and I thought I was doing good.

I haven't tried it yet though. It seems to be a fairly decent product from the reviews I've read.

Re: Meguiers Collor X

If you have fading, all the polishing and Color X in the world is not going to help, why you ask? because your car is clear coated, you never, ever touch the actual black layer of pigmented paint with anything, it is sealed by the window of clear coat. If the base coat is loosing its pigment, it will have to stay that way until the car is re-painted.......

Well I am starting to want to use it on my beater now and not the Z. The Z does not look that bad now that I cleaned it up from winter storage.
I might just use a coat or two of cleaner wax on both cars, I have had good luck with that.
