Smile Interesting tip on leather care....and a review.

Winter is also hard on leather interiors. Cold, dry air pulls the moisture from leather. So, it’s important to treat leather prior to the onset of freezing temperatures. Once the daytime temperature dips below 50 degrees (Fahrenheit), the leather will not accept conditioners. Although the surface will look good, you have not provided moisture to the hide.
The section in bold I did not know and thought it was interesting to pass along. I guess if you want to condition leather in colder months, you'd need to park the car in the sun to heat and warm the leather then apply a conditioner in order for any real benefit.

On a side note....I'm comparing (or trying to compare) several brands of leather products. I tried EagleOne leather cleaner and conditioner a few days ago and thought I'd give my thoughts on the products. My leather seats weren't dirty enough to even need the cleaner yet, but what the heck, I couldn't resist trying out a new product. Seemed to leave a clean surface, and it smelled nice and pleasant, not like leather. I was more excited to use the conditioner actually. Again it smells good, not really like leather, just a pleasant aroma that goes away after the first day. Supposedly the E1 Leather Conditioner contains neatsfoot oils, mink, UV, etc...so it sounded like a decent product to try. They recommend you apply it with bare hands like a lotion so that's just what I did. Spreads nice and even on the leather and seems a little thick too. After letting it sit for a while I buffed it off with a clean towel, per directions, and it left a nice soft feel to the leather with a slight sheen. I've noticed it's a little slicker too than the previous product I've used. All in all, seems like a good product for the price ($5 a bottle), and it's available locally at NAPA around here. I'm happy with it's performance thus far. Took forever to hunt this stuff down, but seems worth it. I'd probably buy again, but still a little to early to tell since it was my first use of this stuff.

I've got a bunch of leather products on my list before I pick my personal favorite, including Pinnacle (neighbor uses it and said I could try it sometime ), Zaino (included on next order ), maybe Lexol but I've heard the smell is bad, so may put this one off, maybe Griot's as I've heard good things about it, etc... Whatever the case, I just want good UV protection and soft, good looking leather. So far, I've used DuraGloss leather conditioner and Eagle One, both offer separate cleaners and conditioners. These will probably be the extent of any locally found products I'll be using.

Looking forward to your thoughts on other Leather Products... I'll be needing them soon too...

I'll probably go with the Zaino leather products unless something else really stands out...

Lexol is about one of the best conditioners around. It doesn't smell bad.

It is also better to use a separate cleaner and conditioner, and not one of the cleaner/conditioner combo products.

Smile Yup

I agree. Both the Eagle One and DuraGloss have separate products (cleaner and conditioner), just in case this was unclear. I used both the E1 cleaner and conditioner, and have tried the DG conditioner only, not cleaner. I agree that separate products are best. It's kinda like using a cleaner wax on the car if you combine the cleaner and conditioner. You aren't getting full cleaning nor maximum protection, and the same goes for leather using one step products.
