I have taken the Zaino Plunge
Well, after months and months of reading you guys glorify this stuff
I decided to order up some Zaino...
I have Z-1, Z-2, Z-5, Z-6, Z-7, Z-18, and 2 applicators on the way.
I just got back from K-Mart, picked up 2 big white 100% cotton USA bath towels and a little bottle of Dawn
I can't wait to get started... I'm hoping the shine is so high that Radar waves bounce off my car and comfuse the cops
LOL!

OK, now I think I am getting **** about this... I was looking over some Zaino instructions and stuff, and got worried about the 100% cotton Made-in-the-USA towels I just bought at K-Mart... they were only $5.00 each.... so I just ordered 2 Fieldcrest "Royal Velvet" white towels just to be safe....
The sign at K-Mart said the were "Made by Cannon for K-Mart", some sort of Signature Series or something... I guess I just use those for the bathroom

Cool, just take your time, follow the instructions and steps, and you'll have that wonderful Zaino shine in no time. Good call on the towels. People can work so hard trying to remove swirls and create a flawless finish only to have the weakest link be their buffing towels, which can cause significant scratching and swirling. I got mine at Goldsmith's; 100% cotton, Royal Velvet and they work wonderfully.

Good Luck on the full Z treatment!

Ha, glad to hear I'm not the only one getting wacko over this Zaino thing. My husband thought I totally lost my mind when I went to JC Penney and bought Royal Velvet towels for the car. We don't even use those on our bods, although now I found out how nice they are, we will! Anyway, I got all the same stuff you did, spent some hours on it and am happy as a clam with the results. The thing is so aerodynamic now I swear I can just hear the wind whooshing right by it! If it had wings it would fly. . .

Cannon & Fieldcrest make a lower quality version of their towels for
K-Mart, Walmart and other big discount chains.
These towels say 100% Cotton but that is not, totally true. The nap is
100% cotton but the backing material has polyester blend in it.
So if you press a little to hard on the towel you can get some fine
scratches or swirls.
The point I'm trying to make is if a Cannon or Fieldcrest towel is
selling in a discount store for $6.00 or less (approximately) it is not
the good stuff.
I buy all my Cannon & Fieldcrest towels in the Bath & Linen shops in
the bigger stores in the mall. I pay anywhere from $10 to $20 per towel.
These are the real deal. I buy about 3 or 4 towels and they usually last
me about a year.
Now for you guys that may have already purchased the lower price towels.
Look carefully at your paint finish when you are using your towels. If
you are not getting any swirls or fine scratches, then you are okay.
Remember it's better to be safe than swirly.
Another problem I'm seeing is some of you guys are using powdered
detergent to wash your towels. Powdered detergents contain granules that
do not fully dissolve in the wash cycle and get trapped in the nap of
the towels, these granules will scratch your paint finish.... Only use
Liquid detergents like All or Tide. Also do not use Bleach or any kind
of fabric softner.
You must use only white. Not colored towels.....Colored towels are not
to be used because the dye leaves a chemical residue on the paint
finish. Always wash your towels first before using. Use Liquid detergent
and rinse twice.
You should cut the selvages(borders) off the perimeter of the towels.
This selvage contains nylon and polyester stitching that could possibly
scratch your paint finish. The towels will fray a little once this is
done. But it's better to play it safe.
Drying the towels on high heat will make them hold a static charge. I
use the regular heat setting and remove them a little damp and let them
air dry. You can fluff the towel real good when it's dry to make it
softer.
As the towels get older they will lose there nap and absorbency and will
have to be replaced.
Hope this ends any confusion...

I was also going to suggest that you cut off the borders of the towels- it might sound crazy but its a smart thing to do.

By the way, if I like this stuff, does anyone know how to become a distributor? the closest one is 300 miles away. Thanks guys you are always helpful!

Update:
Over the weekend I managed to:
1) Wash car down in Dawn.
2) Z18 Clay Bar whole car w/ Z7 spray solution.
3) Re-wash car in Dawn.
4) Dry car.
5) Apply Z1
6) Apply Z5 over Z1.
7) Buff off Z5.
8) Apply Z6.
9) Wait 8 hours (over 70 degrees)
10) Re-Apply Z6.
11) Apply Z5 (coat 2).
... repeated several times.
I ended up with 3 coats of Z5, and one coat of Z2 at the end... I still want to get a couple more coats of Z2 on...
It is very deep and shiny and looks fantastic, but maybe I was expecting a little more because this stuff was talked up so much??
I guess I was expecting it to actuall 'glow', and produce it's own source of light...
Nevertheless, the Z28 looks great... hopefully better with a few more coats of Z2.
One disappointing thing was that with 3 coats of Z5, I was hoping the swirl marks would be totally gone... they were very minor swirl marks to begin with, and they have decreased a lot, but you can still see them...
I also did not notice a dramtic gloss difference between Z5 & Z2, but maybe that'll change after I get a few more coats of Z2 on...
I did Zaino my wheels as well... will I still be able to use my Meguire's Hot Rims wheel cleaner on them? Or will that remove the Zaino?

2. I still have swirl marks. They are better than other vehicles but still present.
All in all it is still better than reg. wax.
I just washed my car last night and it looked great, I haven't put Zaino on in a couple weeks and it still looks good.

When ya'll say swirl marks, are you talking about the circular marks seen in direct sunlight?? if so those are really not buffer swirl marks and occur on all cars no matter how good the paint, Zaino or any other kind of wax and polish will never make those go away totally.

I have to agree with you guys about the Zaino hype. It is the best stuff on the market, but it doesn't work miracles.

Yes, those are the marks I am referring to... I've always called them 'swirl marks'... I've always heard them called that too...
Don't get me wrong, the Z28 is shinnier than it has ever been, but I think I had some unrealistic expectations...

Even a car straight out of the paint booth will have these circular refractions from the suns image, it is normal, and can not be eliminated.
