Post How often should I clay?

I clayed my car a couple of months ago. I moved from Toronto to Cali and haven't shipped all my Zaino stuff down yet. I'm not currently using Zaino products right now. Will I have to do anything, maybe another coat of Z5&Z7? the car Still looks good, but can I just wash with Zaino and put the Z7,5 back on, or should I clay again?

I don't suppose there's any specific time period that you have to follow when wanting to clay. It mostly depends on your driving time, car's condition, environment, etc...as to how often it will need the clay. A good way to test for contaminants is with a plastic lunch baggy or any cellophane wrapper, like a pack of cigs. With the car cleaned, rub the paint finish with your fingers inside the baggy or wrapper. If you feel grit, kinda like sandpaper, or roughness, it's time to clay! If it's completely smooth, wait a while longer before claying.

I obviously don't know your car's condition, but it never hurts to apply a quick coat of Z2 or Z5, and wash often with Z7 with Z6 in between.

Others may disagree with me, but I don't think claying is really necessary unless there is a lot of grit on your car. If you wash your car regularly and use a good polishing product, I don't think claying is a big deal.

The only time I clay my car is after the winter. If I drove my car in an area that was warm year around where I could wash it myself, I could clay far less than I do.

I had never clayed my car since I got it new in 96. I drove it for 5 years in Toronto with 2 winters and storing for the rest. I always used Mother's products and was very content with it. When I finally clayed my car before I brought it down to Cali, WOW! My car was pretty gritty before I clayed it.
You're right though, I noticed a lot of cars down here with mirror finishes that have never clayed before.
